The Road to Freedom

I keep hearing these regressive clowns tell us that if we can’t afford gas, we should just buy a Tesla. Or we should move into the city so we can take crappy urban transit everywhere. Yeah, well, I was born at night but it wasn’t last night.

Just like their predilection to disarm everyone but the government they’ve already politicized. And if you didn’t know it, their push to defund the police was only the local police, whom the citizenry might have some control over. They’re perfectly fine with turning every federal bureaucrat into a thuggish gendarme. They figure they won’t be subject to any control by the people (and they might be right}.

In any event, I believe we have history so we can learn from it. And perhaps we should take a look at what personal freedom and mobility (not to mention lifestyle was like as recently as say about 1900. Our parents who lived through much of this had no doubts at all, and some of them made films to remind anybody who needed reminding. Here’s one of them

Now mind this is pretty obviously Ford propaganda. Old Henry was nowhere near the archangel portrayed here, but the change wrought mostly by the Model T is very much true.

I can’t speak for you, but I’m not gonna be ready in even the next lifetime for that regressive fantasy.

Even if Judy Garland won’t sing in my ear about it.
