I’m a bit tired of pontificating about Syria and war and such, so let’s talk about something else, shall we
My friends over at Ancestral Yuba noted yesterday that the California Highway Patrol is retiring (finally) their Ford Crown Victoria Interceptors. Like everybody else that watches American TV, I’ve been watching the Chips chase bad guys all my life, all the way back to Broderick Crawford in Highway Patrol.
It’s just not going to be the same watching them work out of Ford Explorers. Hopefully they have better luck with them than we have out here in the civilian world where they have earned the nickname of ‘Exploders’ due to their tendency to develop catastrophic problems before 120,000 miles.
I ran across a retrospective video of police cars I thought you’d enjoy, although I do have to caution you that there is some inappropriate language at the beginning and end of the video
You know as we watched our police forces militarize over the last decade, the classic police shows have started to seem quaint, and yet the police have almost always been our friends and protectors. It seems a great shame for them to throw that rapport away simply to get all the toys the Feds will give them so they can look and act like an occupying army.
Hah!, That reminded me of something that happened to a friend of mine a while back
Of course, there’s always these guys
And these
You know, I’ve always been both a gun guy and a car guy, and in truth I can’t tell you how many nights I’ve spent sitting around over coffee and/or a few beers with, cops, wrecker operators, hunters and such, talking about cars and guns (and sometimes even girls).
Hope the young ones still are, because they were…
Good times
